Assist in preparing a 19th-century meal, savor the flavorful results!
The feel of a bygone era fills our cozy hearth room during these signature dinners, where a small group of guests join in the preparation of a 19th-century-style meal cooked in our open hearth.
The evening begins with costumed Museum Interpreters guiding guests “back in time” to learn about 19th-century kitchens and food preparation, seasonal farming and foods, and historic cooking recipes and tools. Guests then don aprons and assist in preparing, seasoning, cooking, roasting and baking foods using traditional means and tools—all in the process of creating an authentic, seasonal farmstead meal. When the meal is ready, guests gather together at the hearth table to enjoy the savory meal they have helped to prepare. Guests are welcome to bring wine and beer to enjoy during this portion of the evening.
